With the region averaging 270 days of sunshine a year, the Whitsundays is fast becoming the home of renewable solar energy production in North Queensland.
In 2014, RPS was engaged by project partners Solar Choice and Edify Energy to provide a range of consultancy services for a new photovoltaic (PV) energy installation at Collinsville, which has recently received funding support from the Federal Government.
RPS has undertaken a range of survey, spatial and mapping activities for the project, including topographic aerial surveying of the 8,267 ha site using state-of-the-art unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology. Our team has prepared and completed all planning and environmental approvals, including the Material Change of Use approval necessary to transform the site from cleared broad-acre land to sustainable energy production hub.
Our assistance has also helped Solar Choice and Edify Energy to secure $9.5 million in funding for the project under the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA)’s large scale solar round in 2016.
