RPS was invited by Manchester Airports Group (M.A.G) to carry out the masterplanning and subsequent detailed design for a new logistics hub development at Manchester’s Airport City Enterprise Zone.
The client is regenerating the area with our team concentrating on the 91.2 acre, southern plot, located next to J6 of the M56 and adjacent to the airport’s cargo apron. The scheme will deliver circa 1.4 millionft2 of new logistics space within a landscaped natural habitat and create over 1,800 jobs.
The new development will provide a world-class logistics park with a full range of air-to-road transfer, assembly and processing activities designed to industry standards for freight forwarders and other logistics business.
Using our vast expertise in the distribution and warehousing sector, RPS created a masterplan that not only satisfied the client’s requirements but also met those of industrial property agents and institutional standards.
After consultation with the client and agents, the team provided a wide variety of unit sizes in the plan varying from 4,000 - 212,000ft2, and is currently working with the client designing appropriate developments to secure tenants.
RPS also provided technical information and worked with the client’s planning team to gain planning approval.
In addition to this development, RPS has been involved in other similar projects for members of the Manchester Airport Group, including projects for and located at East Midlands Airport and Bournemouth Airport.
