RPS secured planning permission for a 28 storey tower accommodating 148 residential units adjacent to The Shard at London Bridge. Working closely with Southwark Council and the Greater London Authority (GLA) through a Planning Performance Agreement we established the principle of the building height, form and scale, as well as addressing the detailed technical and environmental requirements of the scheme.
The proposals will provide new retail and commercial space at ground floor level, with a new raised public concourse knitting the train and bus station into the wider area. An approach to affordable housing was agreed whereby a proportion of the requirements were delivered off-site, with a payment in lieu to the Council’s housing fund. The scheme is under construction and due for completion in 2019.
