The St Erth Multi Modal Hub will include essential upgrade works to enable sustainable transport in West Cornwall; it will address road congestion issues, connect Cornwall’s rail line, A30 trunk Road and bus network and generate sustainable commuting.
RPS is the Contractor’s Designer for this Design Build scheme, services include: production of design and coordination of design work with construction on site, Principal Designer, certification of the design and inspection/supervision of the construction works.
The works include the provision of additional car parking and improvements to the highway infrastructure in the vicinity of the existing St Erth Railway Station. The improvements will integrate rail, bus, walking and cycling for the station which is served by Penzance to Paddington and St Erth to St Ives train services.
The hub will comprise approximately 440 new car parking spaces, 100 reconfigured spaces and associated infrastructure, including:
Parking facilities to include the provision of ticket vending facilities, CCTV, electric car charging facilities and lighting;
An improved signal controlled crossing on the A30/Station Approach junction with controlled pedestrian crossings on all arms;
Drop off/pick up and bus facilities located outside the St Erth station to provide easy access to bus services from users of the new car parks; and
Provision of an improved station frontage, drainage works, road construction, retaining structures and cycle storage facilities.
