RPS has provided safety, environmental, planning and design advice to the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD), Defence Estates, the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE), other government agencies and private clients for 30 years.

We are an active supplier through the Framework Agreement for Technical Services (FATS) contract, in addition to having worked under numerous discrete contracts with various project teams and organisations within the MoD.

Functional safety and environmental management advice is delivered by our Alton office. Our specialist team provides advice and assistance throughout land, sea, nuclear and air procurement and logistic support programmes for the MoD and its associated supply chains. We have provided support to a range of programmes and systems; ranging from large complex platforms to subsystems which support these platforms through to contracted service provision programmes.

RPS has been a leading provider of specialist safety and risk consultancy services to the UK nuclear sector (civil and defence) for over 30 years.

Our principal area of expertise is in support of nuclear safety case development and preparation. RPS provides expertise to the full range of industry clients and across a wide variety of facilities. These include fuel fabrication and enrichment plants, reactor sites, reprocessing plants, research laboratories, defence establishments and waste management clients. We support the whole plant or project lifecycle from design and construction of new facilities, through operations and decommissioning. Our clients include Sellafield Ltd, Ministry of Defence (MoD), Urenco, Westinghouse (Springfields), EDF, Rolls-Royce, DSRL (Dounreay), Magnox Ltd, Capenhurst Nuclear Services (CNS) and National Nuclear Laboratories (NNL).

Pete is responsible for the defence safety business, with over 15 years’ experience of safety management, audit and assessment. Pete has a background in aviation engineering having spent 17 years as an Engineering Officer in the Royal Air Force, including aspects associated with Systems Engineering and Software Engineering. Pete is a course instructor for Goal Structuring Notation (GSN).

Neil is a professional scientist and engineer, and Lead Auditor with over 20 years’ experience working in the defence sector as a consultant, reviewing and implementing the Project Oriented Environmental Management System (POEMS) and Project Oriented Safety Management System (POSMS) methodologies and conducting legislative review studies. As the Commercial Manager, Neil is responsible for the commercial aspects of the business with the production of tenders and business development.

Paddy is the lead Principal Consultant for Maritime projects. Paddy is a Chartered Naval Architect who has worked in the defence sector for over 15 years, working across multiple organisations in a variety of environmental and safety related roles. He has managed complex programmes of safety work as a member of the MOD, as a consultant and as Head of Safety for a large defence supplier.
