RPS provides specialist biomass energy plant advice to energy companies, public authorities, technology providers and both EPC and construction contractors throughout the project lifecycle. Our involvement can begin prior to regulatory approval and investment decision to assist in establishing project viability.

Our experts provide initial strategic technical advice and due diligence work that is essential to the development of funding and approval strategies. RPS Planners guide projects through the planning approval/Development Consent Order process, supported by a wide range of in-house specialists covering all aspects of environmental impact assessment and Environmental Permitting. When it comes to implementation, our design services cover all aspects of civil engineering and building design.

With over 20 years’ experience Dan has been involved in a wide variety of biomass, energy and waste projects. He is an experienced Expert Witness in the areas of air quality and human health and an environmental permitting specialist.

Dan was Project Director for the REnescience Northwich project, utilising a novel, benign enzyme process to treat residual municipal waste using MBT, incorporating a bioreactor and anaerobic digestion to deliver enhanced recovery of recyclate, energy and good quality digestate. The project was mobilised, consented, procured and constructed in less than 24 months. RPS provided a full planning, consenting, design and structural package to deliver this world first project for Dong Energy.

Dan has acted as Technical Adviser for a due diligence exercise for Port Talbot biomass, working with Poyry, Technical lead for Centrica’s Roosecote project and a series of small scale biomass, biofuel and AD projects.
