RPS were the lead consultants appointed to prepare, submit and negotiate on the planning application submitted for each new hospital proposal.
The projects were progressed as part of the Hampshire Primary Care Trust’s (PCT) wider regional programme for the development of healthcare in Hampshire. The projects were delivered through the Department of Health's Local Improvement Finance Trust (LIFT) Initiative.
RPS managed a series of public exhibitions to advertise the proposals as part of the pre-application consultation process. In addition, RPS prepared the Transport Assessments and Sustainability Plan that were submitted in support of the application.
Achieving excellence in sustainable design was of paramount importance, and was achieved through various initiatives.
Both schemes were proposed against a background of local objection to the proposed closure and re-distribution of services from other local hospitals. The pre-application consultation process driven by RPS helped to identify and resolve issues upfront. Consequently, both applications were determined positively.
The scheme won the 2010 Green Apple award for most sustainable healthcare building. In recognition of our achievements, RPS was nominated for the ‘best consultant’ award at the LIFT Awards.
