The Christie, Manchester Oak Road Development
The Christie NHS Foundation Trust
RPS carried out the Mechanical & Electrical Design Services from inception to completion for the Oak Road Development at The Christie, Manchester.
The Development is a £35 million centre for patient treatment including an expanded chemotherapy department and a private patients unit. Approximately 2,400 patients will be treated each year at the clinical trials unit.
The building also contains an Aseptic Suite, Gene Therapy facility and Pharmacy. Part of the early work consisted of the relocation of the existing clinical trials to a Temporary Accommodation on the hospital site to allow demolition of the smaller and aging facility.
The design included cooling, heating, ventilation, medical gases, pneumatic tube, power, lighting, data, nurse call, alarms, CCTV and BMS. RPS were also commissioned to provide Acoustic advice.
Due to the success of the project RPS were then commissioned to carry out the design for the £15 Million Young Oncology & Haematology Transplant Unit.
