Kelda Water Services, North Yorkshire

RPS completed planning applications and assessments for two Anaerobic Digestion Plants.

Each development comprises a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Anaerobic Digester (AD) plant and associated ancillary infrastructure adjacent to existing sewage treatment works.

Both facilities will handle approximately 48,000tpa of organic waste which will be sourced from the local area. The heat and electricity produced will be used to power the sewage treatment works, contributing towards our client’s vision of running their sewage treatment operations solely on renewable energy.

The approach to the planning applications and range and scope of supporting assessments was agreed with the respective Local Planning Authorities via a series of pre-application consultation meetings.

A number of technical reports were completed to inform the applications and demonstrate that the proposed developments are unlikely to have a significant impact on the site and its surroundings, including:

Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment

Transport Assessment

Phase 1 Ecological Survey

Desk based Archaeological Assessment

Flood Risk Assessment

Noise Assessment

Air Quality Assessment.
