Peterborough Energy Park
RPS supported the development of EnergyPark Peterborough, the UK's first sustainable biomass from waste power station which will demonstrate that we no longer need to bury our waste under the ground.
RPS was instructed to undertake Architectural, Transportation Planning and Highway Design (Section 278 and Section 38 Agreement works). Due diligence advice was also provided prior to the main instruction.
The transportation planning work consisted of a transport assessment and travel plan to Peterborough City Council as a result of the DECC planning permission. Extensive testing in respect of masterplanning and parking was necessary and RPS successfully negotiated the appropriate level of parking.
On the highway design, we undertook the detailed design of a large nearby traffic signal junction sufficient for technical approval under S278 of the Highways Act. We also had to design and gain approval for a unique pavement solution since the Fens are predominantly underlain by peat giving particular issues to a highway. The highway design enabled the client to tender the work as part of the larger package of site construction.
