RPS used Autodesk Revit BIM technology to design and deliver the transformation of a single-floor 1980’s retail store into a 21st century, two-level superstore; increasing the floor space by 60%.
The project disciplines worked hand-in-hand using the same evolving 3D building information model. The development provided an additional 33,700ft2 sales area, making it Sainsbury’s largest retail store and their 1st store with a mezzanine level for general merchandise sales.
We even modelled the existing building structure which provided greater clarity for the contractor when partial demolition was being undertaken.
This extensive remodelling was undertaken with no disruption to trading.
Significant cost & time savings were made on this project by using Revit as it:
Highlighted clashes between different elements of the design
Generated complete 3-D models for Sainsbury’s to make informed decisions
Supplied accurate construction information to the principle contractor sub-contractors and suppliers.
Automatically compiled schedules of quantities
