RPS advises retail investors, developers and major multiple retail occupiers - including principal food operators - throughout the UK. We advise on all retail formats; from purpose built shopping centres, to out of town retail foodstores, retail parks and factory outlet centres through to the small scale foodstore formats being promoted by the UK’s principal convenience retailers.

RPS provides sustainable solutions through our pragmatic, co-ordinated and integrated delivery of Architecture, Environmental, Transport and Engineering services, as well as EIA, Screening & Scoping Assessments, Project Management, Cost Consultancy and Planning advice.

We provide specialist retail planning advice including retail impact assessments, town centre vitality and viability assessments as well as sequential test assessments. We also advise on alternative uses of vacant retail floorspace in both town centres and out of town retail parks and seek to maximise value by securing alternative uses and relaxing floor space and goods conditions to provide greater flexibility in the use of the asset. Where necessary, we provide expert retail and transport planning evidence at planning inquiries.

Our design experience encompasses architectural and building services design for new build shopping centres, supermarkets and retail parks, acting on behalf of developers, through to working for occupiers / retailers on the design of their stores. Our aesthetically exciting solutions are focused to assist with increasing footfall, optimising site densities, energy efficiency and future proofing to maximize the site’s potential.
