Key Services

RPS delivers expert advice and professional consultancy services for the management of asbestos. We advise clients on the most pragmatic, efficient and operationally advantageous way to manage asbestos, without compromising on safety issues.

As an established asbestos consultancy we have built a solid team of knowledgeable and experienced consultants who have worked across many different sectors. Our services are flexible to meet the operational requirements of our clients whilst still achieving compliance.

Non-domestic builds constructed before 1999 must be assessed for the presence of potential asbestos materials, in accordance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations. Where asbestos is identified in a building, it is essential that the condition of that material is monitored over a set period of time (usually annually). This forms the re-inspection schedule for the building, and when the re-inspection takes place the condition and risk assessment is re-appraised and the register updated. This helps facilitate the management of asbestos in the building.

In cases where a refurbishment or demolition project is proposed on a pre-1999 built building the regulations call for a more intrusive and robust assessment to be made for the presence of asbestos, in order to avoid any potential exposure during works.

Training is one of the cornerstones around which effective Health, Safety and Environmental Management is built. It is essential that personnel tasked with managing these issues are suitably trained and experienced to undertake their responsibilities. Asbestos falls into the top category of required understanding and safety management.

RPS has been providing a range of asbestos training courses for many years by utilising the practical experience of our consultancy team. By undertaking training with RPS, you will be able to achieve a level of competence to meet the ever increasing demands of legislation.

Project Management

Well run contracts need strong and committed Project Managers to deliver a quality service to the client. RPS has a competent and experienced team who liaise with client senior management to take instruction, deliver works and offer advice where requested on a technical and operational basis. We also appraise contract progression to identify KPIs that allow the contract to run more efficiently and cost effectively to the client.

Operational requirements and logistics in executing the project and delivering as per specification and requirements is paramount; it is our responsibility at the local building level to ensure that the works are completed as required, liaison implemented and end product fit for purpose. The Project Management process covers all elements of asbestos management including management surveys, re-inspections, management plans, emergency response, refurbishment and demolition surveys, removal tenders, management and monitoring, awareness and professional training, face fit and medicals and consultancy advice.

In line with requirements of the Control of Asbestos Regulations, RPS carry out monitoring to determine asbestos fibre levels in air and coupled with our project management services aim to suppress and manage levels to a minimum and within a controlled environment.

Our team of highly trained analysts provide a variety of monitoring techniques dependant on the type of work being carried out. RPS provide a comprehensive suite of services to ensure compliance which include: background and leak testing, smoke testing, visual inspections, clearance and reassurance testing as required in 4 stage clearance works (in accordance with HSG248) for asbestos removal.
