RPS receives positive feedback from the Building Safety Regulator for the detailed standard of their Building Safety Case Report
Our Building Safety team have produced a robust Building Safety Case Report for our client CRM for their project Vibe Student Living in Kingston Upon Thames.
The Building Safety Regulator (BSR) has issued glowing feedback on our report, and the first Building Safety Certificate in England is on its way – a major triumph in the world of building safety compliance.
The Building Safety Act 2022 (BSA) introduced a rigorous framework for the design, construction, and management of high-rise residential buildings with a clear focus on protecting residents and promoting accountability. To secure compliance, building safety must be the responsibility of the whole project team, including clients, designers, and contractors.
Until recently, it was unclear what level of detail the BSR required to declare a building safe and compliant.
Drawing on our experience of safety case preparation and report delivery, combined with our fire safety and structural engineering expertise, we produced a robust Building Safety Case Report for CRM. This entailed collating building safety evidence into a clear narrative that demonstrated our client’s compliance with BSA requirements.
After reviewing our report, the BSR praised our work, stating that the level of content was just right, and will be issuing their first Building Safety Certificate to the Principal Accountable Person for Vibe Student Living.
Andy James, Technical Director at RPS, outlines the BSR’s feedback: “The BSR Lead, along with the BSR Fire Assessor and Structural Assessor, scrutinised many Building Safety Case reports for other buildings, all vastly ranging in length. They advised that the RPS report was pitched just right, with an appropriate level of detail that was easy to read and digest.”
Vibe Student Living is an eight-storey purpose-built student accommodation building which is operated and maintained safely. However, the building owner encountered significant problems due to a number of issues regarding the façade construction. A planned remediation programme for the External Wall System was put in place and completed by October 2024.
We’re proud to have successfully navigated a new and complex compliance process and we’re excited to see the first Building Safety Certificate come through.
