Congratulations to both Antonia Gaughran and Cathriona Cahill who were shortlisted for the ‘Science’ and ‘Energy’ categories at this year’s Women in STEM Awards. In what proved to be a fantastic night, Cathriona was deservedly crowned overall winner of the Energy category.
The awards, which celebrate and recognise the incredible achievements and innovations of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in Ireland, were held in the Mansion House, Dublin on Thursday, 24th October.
They aim to ‘shine a light on the amazing women who are breaking barriers, pushing boundaries, and making a significant impact in their fields.’
According to the Women in STEM Awards, Cathriona is “a Chartered Scientist, that holds qualifications in science, engineering, and environmental law. She has played a key role as Environment Director at RPS Group, particularly in delivering planning and permitting applications for offshore wind farms over the last five years.”
“With 25 years of experience, Cathriona has established herself as a national leader in energy project consenting, contributing significantly to complex infrastructure projects. Beyond her technical achievements, she is a passionate advocate for women in STEM, fostering growth and development for the next generation of female engineers and scientists.”
Antonia and Cathriona, who have both been at the forefront of our Environment sector for over 20 years, were nominated by their peers and colleagues in recognition of their outstanding contributions in their technical disciplines. RPS colleagues also highlighted their ability to break down barriers and serve as role models for other women pursuing careers in STEM. Their successful careers in traditionally male-dominated fields inspires others and demonstrates the potential for diverse representation.
