Celebrating our nurses on World Health Day 2020
Today we recognise World Health Day - and this year’s theme celebrates the vital role of our nurses and other health workers – which right at this moment in time cannot be overstated!
Firstly, on this day we would like to deliver a big shout out to the NHS and other medical teams around the world helping us get through the global COVID-19 crisis – we are in awe of your bravery and resilience.
At RPS, we have our own troop of medical staff doing their bit. Our Occupational Health business employs 40 nurses who are continuing to deliver critical industry related services, all of which are now being delivered remotely as we navigate this ongoing crisis.
Protecting the vulnerable and most at risk
While we may be working from home, as a technology-enabled business we are well-equipped to access our IT infrastructure and communications systems remotely and with minimal disruption to their workflows.
Ordinarily our nurses perform a range of activities. They support the continued production of medicines including cancer, cardiovascular and respiratory medication for our Pharmaceutical clients; they support the health and wellbeing of our public sector, rail and food manufacturing clients to keep the wheels of industry turning.
But these are not ordinary times, and today, in response to the COVID-19 crisis, the team is also working tirelessly to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of employees across the UK - for our clients, and for RPS.
- Our nurses are screening people who are essential to production - technicians who keep equipment working, or are producing and delivering lifesaving ventilators, to those who work in the food industry and in warehousing and logistics
- They are tracking people who have needed to self-isolate since the outbreak of the infection and supporting, among others, NHS medical personnel get back to the front lines
- And teams working from home who are reporting health concerns including musculoskeletal disorders, they are supporting the provision of specialist equipment such as chairs, keyboards and monitors
These are just a few of the activities they are currently delivering and will continue to deliver diligently throughout this challenging time. From all of us at RPS, we thank you.
