RPS appoints respected global director of ESG and sustainability to lead sustainability strategy
RPS’ purpose is to create shared value by solving problems that matter to a complex, urbanising and resource-scarce world. This is backed up by proven ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) credentials and a proud legacy of over 50 years' strong environmental and social engagement with clients.
To build on the good work we already do for our clients, RPS has appointed UK-based Matt Farnsworth as Global Director of ESG and Sustainability, a newly created role. Matt is a seasoned sustainability advocate with over 20 years' client facing, professional services, government, and industry experience in the UK and internationally, including six years at RPS within Consulting – UK & Ireland.
Commenting on the appointment, John Douglas, CEO of RPS, said: “RPS has an important role to play in delivering a more sustainable future and we do excellent work for our clients in this space. Matt’s appointment is an important strategic hire that is part of a pragmatic plan to build on the good work we already do by looking internally to define and deliver our own ESG strategy. His expertise in developing, engaging, and leading transformational sustainability and ESG programmes in-house and for clients means he will bring invaluable insight to the role as we accelerate this important agenda. I am delighted to have him on board.”
Matt starts in post on 1 September 2021. Working in partnership with key stakeholders and teams across the business, Matt will develop and advocate for RPS’ global sustainability strategy, to progress RPS’ environmental, social and governance performance and reporting. Matt Farnsworth added: “Sustainability is central to our business; our customers and stakeholders and I have never seen so much opportunity and ambition for positive change. I am very excited by the potential that lies ahead as we help deliver shared value as the world economy decarbonises and to inspire others to make sustainable changes a priority at this pivotal time.”
