RPS continues as lead ecology services provider for Forestry and Land Scotland
We’re delighted to once again be the lead ecology services provider for Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS), a position we've proudly held for the last five years.
Forestry and Land Scotland’s operations split into five regions, with businesses able to bid on a maximum of three. Our success in all three regions bid for places us as the sole ecology provider for the ‘spine of Scotland’ – consisting of the north, central and south regions - covering the next four years.
With a renewed focus on carbon following COP26 and ambitious net zero targets set by the Scottish Government, we look forward to aiding in the restoration of damaged peatlands across the FLS’ landholding.
Stephen Lockwood, Director of Ecology for Scotland and Northern England, comments: “This is fantastic news and very well deserved for our ecology team. We’ve built some great relationships over the years working with Forestry and Land Scotland, and I’m delighted we can continue to contribute to Scotland’s wide-ranging conservation, carbon and environment initiatives.”
Our previous support has included:
- Conservation management advice
- Woodland surveys
- Herbivore impact assessments
- Habitat and protected species surveys
- Support for building renovations through survey
- Statutory authority engagement, along with a particular focus on peatlands.
