Sophia Thorpe, Planning Director, takes on new role as Residential Lead

We’re excited to announce that Sophia Thorpe, RPS Planning Director, is taking on a new role as Residential Lead for our UK Planning and Infrastructure team.

Sophia joined RPS in early 2020, equipped with a strong background in strategic residential and mixed-use land promotions through the Local Plan process. Her specialisms include assessing and progressing sites from active identification through site searches and appraisals, as well as identifying opportunities to progress applications outside of the development plan process where housing land shortfalls have been found.

As Residential Lead, Sophia will be heading up our planning consultancy services and promoting our multidisciplinary offering; demonstrating the benefits of employing our broader environmental services alongside our planning consultancy.  

In her new role, Sophia will be aiming to enhance our market share of national housebuilder prospects. With invaluable experience promoting large scale mixed-use schemes, Sophia has deep knowledge of the information required and the pressures faced to advance projects to permission and start on site.

Sophia commented: “I am delighted to have joined the highly regarded UK Planning team to enhance RPS’ residential offering to existing and new clients. I’ll be working with clients to maximise the planning prospects for their existing portfolio whilst also working with them to identify and progress new opportunities.”
