Ross Thompson

Ross Thompson CEO - Australia Asia Pacific

Ross works with the leaders of our operational teams to drive business efficiency, growth and success. After a career in the British military, Ross joined the corporate world in 2005 driving the development of leading professional services brands in Australia, the UK, Middle East and Asia Pacific. A proven expert in high growth business-to-business consultancy development, Ross joined RPS in 2017 following long-term appointments at ASX 200-listed engineering and environmental services firm, Cardno.

Meegan Sullivan

Meegan Sullivan Executive Director - Advisory

Meegan is responsible for the growth and success of RPS' Advisory business offering in Australia and Asia Pacific. She has over 20 years’ experience within the transport, water and defence and government services sectors. She has led, delivered and advised on projects including Western Sydney Airport, Melbourne Regional Rail Link and Sydney Desalination Plant and has also participated in leadership teams for several successful alliances over the last decade.

Michael Owens

Michael Owens Executive Director - Project Management

Michael leads RPS’ large project and program management business across Australia and Asia Pacific. He is a qualified engineer and project management leader with more than 15 years’ experience developing and managing projects from early project inception, business case development, feasibility analysis, design management, procurement and administration, construction supervision and commissioning handover and takeover. He was awarded Australia Institute of Project Management Project Director of the Year for NSW in 2014.

Susan Farr

Susan Farr Executive General Manager - Place and Environment

Susan leads RPS' Place and Environment business across Australia, partnering with our development, infrastructure, energy and resources clients to set up projects for success. Susan has over 25 years’ experience working in the property and infrastructure industry in strategic and commercial roles and has been at the forefront of innovation in sustainable water and energy solutions for development and infrastructure. She enjoys bringing different disciplines and stakeholders together to set the vision and objectives and works with teams to translate the vision into practical implementation.

Paul Aitken CEO - Services UK & Netherlands

Paul is a chartered engineer with 30 years’ experience in the utilities and environment sector in the UK and overseas. He is CEO of our Services UK and NL segment which consists of approximately 1,800 staff across our Water, Laboratories, Health and Hygiene businesses in the UK and our Property, Planning, Infrastructure and Laboratories businesses in the Netherlands. He is based in Edinburgh.

Frank Vrolijks Managing Director – Netherlands

As Managing Director of the Dutch business, Frank leads a great variety of activities by over 400 professionals, ranging from laboratory services, through survey to property management and flood-protection. Over the years he has lead the company to be a single entity with one style of operation that is widely recognised and appreciated by clients and staff. He believes in technology and data-analysis as the main differentiators changing the life and work of many engineers.

Dr Conrad Ashby Managing Director Water Operations UK

Dr Conrad Ashby will lead our Water Operations business in the UK market. He has over 20 years’ experience working for contracting and client organisations in the water utility sector - supporting the delivery of customer and asset capabilities in both clean and waste water arenas. His experience includes a variety of commercial and operational roles within Thames Water and Yorkshire Water, and Lanes Group where as Managing Director of their Utilities division he led their expansion and development.

Steve Hogg Wastewater Consultancy Director

With 30 years’ experience in the UK water industry, Steve has built a reputation for the successful delivery of major water industry frameworks in the role of Framework Manager and Framework Director. Steve’s technical background covers all aspects of wastewater networks where he has worked on and led projects ranging from hydraulic modelling, Drainage Area Planning and Sewerage Management Planning through to project feasibility, design, construction supervision and contract administration. He is a Chartered Civil Engineer and member of the ICE.

Jonathan Tucker Divisional Director – Laboratories and Occupational Health

Heading up our laboratories and occupational health business in the UK, Jonathan has over 25 years’ experience in the consultancy sector. Jonathan leads a multi-disciplinary team of operational and sales professionals to develop and deliver our portfolio of services, in competitive markets. He is an energetic leader and plays an active role in client account management and developing new business; working with our specialist teams to achieve successful outcomes for our clients and cultivate lasting business relationships.

Lisa Elliott Strategic Marketing Director

Lisa brings over 20 years’ experience in developing market positioning, execution and communications strategies - capitalising on business’ strengths to deliver better value to clients and improved commercial performance. She has held several senior strategic marketing roles in multinational, listed and privately held companies, and is proficient in a range of core marketing skills including market research and planning, key account management and B2B communications. Lisa is used to working in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about what RPS delivers for their clients.

Mark Smith Business Development Director

Mark is a versatile, pro-active water industry professional with a wide range of skills encompassing business leadership, business development, operational delivery and corporate governance. He is experienced in balancing the needs of clients and regulators to develop sustainable business activities. Mark has been instrumental in leading and organising project teams delivering profitable outcomes for RPS and its clients.

John Chubb CEO - Consulting UK & Ireland

John has over 30 years’ experience in a broad range of engineering management roles, and for the past 10 years has held leadership positions, including with Grontmij UK and Sweco Denmark also serving on their Executive Committees, whilst concurrently holding roles of Executive Chairman for Grontmij Sweden, and Grontmij UK. Chartered Engineer John is a former Royal Naval Commander and has further senior leadership experience in the nuclear, ICT, waste and energy sectors.

Jen Hamilton Managing Director - Design

Leading our Design division comprising our architectural and engineering capabilities, Jen has a wealth of international corporate, procurement and construction experience with private and publicly listed companies and has had tremendous success in operating and growing a professional services business. She has over 20 years' experience in private practice as a qualified lawyer and as in house head of legal and group company secretary, the majority of which have been spent within the consulting engineering industry.

Tim Downing Managing Director - Project, Cost & Building Consultancy

Leading our UK Project Management, Cost and Building Consultancy and HS&R teams, Tim works with energy and flair to develop and grow the divisions through a deep understanding of the whole development and property process as well as client needs. He has over 30 years’ experience in cost and project management and has led on several high-profile UK development and regeneration projects

Paul Willmott Managing Director – Planning

A Chartered Town Planner with over 35-years' experience spanning the public and private sectors, Paul leads our Planning division. Parallel to his professional career, Paul has had an equally long career in the British Army Reserves, serving principally in the Royal Signals until promotion to the General Staff in the rank of Colonel. Through both careers he has held a range of leadership roles, with his contribution being recognised in 2006 with an OBE. He brings deep planning expertise, gained from a wide variety of complex large-scale schemes and significant advisory experience for public sector clients.

Andy Clifton Managing Director - Environment

Andy leads RPS’ environment division in the UK and has over 25 years’ experience in multi-disciplinary environmental projects and consultancy. Andy is a specialist in contaminated land management and has worked on a diverse range of legacy management projects as well as major infrastructure schemes in the transport, energy and defence sectors. As well as holding several charterships, Andy holds Advisor status on the Register of Ground Engineering Professionals and has stood as an expert witness.

Michael Shaw Managing Director - Northern Ireland

Michael is a dynamic and forward-thinking professional engineer with extensive expertise, specifically in maritime engineering for port and harbour, renewable energy and coastal management projects – receiving both the ICE Ferguson Medal and Miller Prize. As Managing Director for RPS in Northern Ireland, he takes a strategic oversight for all operations and projects, utilising his 35 years of experience and proven commercial leadership ability.

Gerry Carty Managing Director – Republic of Ireland

Gerry has led RPS in Ireland since 2012. Implementing a strategy focused on achievement of excellence and delivery of high quality services to clients, using best in practice technology and integrated cross discipline service delivery. He has been responsible for the delivery of a range of PPP projects; motorways, energy, educational, water, health, national and regional road projects from commencement to completion. Gerry is an Executive member and Vice President of ACEI. He was a member of the EPA Audit Committee and Chairman of CWIEM and the NHWPP. Gerry recently won the ACE 2018 European CEO of the Year Award.

Halvard Kilde CEO - Norway

Halvard leads RPS’ business in Norway bringing 20 years’ senior leadership experience. He led on the strategic integration of our business in the region to being the only full service and solution provider with project management in Norway. An efficient and proactive leader, Halvard’s focus is on underpinning RPS’ unrivalled reputation for exemplary complementary project management in Norway and overseas.

Kristin Bakke Romsaas  COO and Management Consulting

Kristin is COO in RPS’ business in Norway and also leads the Management Consulting business; delivering management consulting services to project oriented clients. She has over 20 years of experience within project management from several industries.

Terje Sandtrø  Section Manager Business Development

Terje is head of Construction in Norway. The business area is responsible for the execution of all physical projects including property, healthcare facilities, infrastructure, energy and renewables. He has more than twenty years of experience from project oriented companies in several industries.

Leading our Academy, Tove has been working with learning and development throughout her career. For the past 17 years she has worked in various roles for Metier OEC Academy, before she became head of this business area in 2015.

Trine S. Nygård Strategic Development Director

Trine has a management consulting and business leadership background, currently leading an effective and dedicated team responsible for complex sales, marketing, business development and innovation within our Norwegian business. She joined RPS from a senior managerial position with Deloitte and has a strong background in performance and project management.

Doug Matthys President and CEO, North America

Educated as an Environmental Scientist, Doug has spent the past two decades in various consulting, management and executive leadership roles with professional service firms. He has been with RPS since 2007 and has held a range of positions, most recently as Chief Operating Officer for North America.

Kelly Knee Executive Director

Kelly is a water resources engineer and geographic information systems (GIS) specialist, with a broad engineering and scientific background. She has created custom GIS solutions for a range of projects and integrating water quality models into ArcGIS. Her visualisations of coastal flooding have gained national attention and her coastal risk analyses have been used for both educational and engineering purposes.

Brent leads RPS’s Infrastructure business in North America which includes Transport, Water and Property projects.  He is a professional engineer with over 30 years’ experience consulting with public and private entities on solutions to air and surface transportation, program management, and land and site development.  He has developed and implemented Intelligent Transportation Systems throughout the southern and western US and is passionate about providing practical and innovative solutions to complex problems affecting people’s lives.

Murray Burling

Murray Burling Managing Director - Energy, Australia Asia Pacific

Murray has extensive experience as a consulting coastal engineer and marine modeller, undertaking multi-faceted studies in Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and the Middle East; and has managed the implementation of a number of web-based data and model applications.  He is an expert in large dataset analysis, visualisation and web-based delivery systems and has authored and co-authored many technical reports and publications.

Andy Kirchin Managing Director - Technical, Training and Advisory

Andy is a Geoscientist with international consulting experience and expert professional skills in geophysics and geodata analysis. He has led teams from our London offices for a number of years before moving to lead geoscience consultations from our Houston office in 2011. Throughout his career, Andy has retained a strong hands-on relationship with seismic interpretation and depth conversion.

Toss brings more than 20 years of energy experience in consulting and manufacturing businesses.  He is responsible for the commercial oversight of Energy North America as well as the management of the operations group.  Educated as a Certified Public Accountant, Toss has brought a unique skill set of finance and operations expertise to the company since joining in 2006.
