Chateau Development
RPS delivers a lush, cost-effective landscape paradise for Chateau residential development.
Transforming Chateau: A landscape masterpiece
RPS’ award-winning Landscape Architecture team was engaged by Bridgestone Developments to transform Chateau, a luxury residential development, into a sub-tropical haven catering to a diverse demographic.
Located just south of Castle Hill’s historic Showground precinct in Sydney, Chateau by Bridgestone offers a lavish residential development that’s a unique blend of nature and urban living. Comprising four residential towers with 296 apartments, this development features one-, two-, and three-bedroom residences. Situated only 30 kilometres from the Sydney CBD, the Chateau is designed for first-home buyers, working families, and downsizing retirees.
Bridgestone aimed to create an immersive sub-tropical and native environment, a garden oasis within a concrete jungle. However, the project faced significant challenges, including limited light availability and structural constraints posed by podium and slab levels, which hindered the installation of larger canopy trees.
Drawing on RPS’ extensive experience in delivering versatile and innovative designs, we overcome the horticultural challenges associated with integrating natural landscapes within a built environment.
Imaginative plant selection and soil enhancement
The RPS Landscape Architecture team meticulously selected plant species to achieve the desired sub-tropical aesthetic. This included the strategic placement of plants to ensure they could thrive in the available conditions. To support the long-term health and growth of the mid to large-sized palms and trees, our specialists enhanced soil profiles, ensuring adequate soil media was available to maximise visual appeal and longevity.
Through careful planning and tackling the challenges of the project head-on, RPS’ landscape architects delivered an alluring tropical experience for residents and visitors of the Chateau development. The design is not just eye-catching; it brings a strong sustainability focus.
