Sims Bayou Wastewater Lift Station
The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) had an ongoing project to widen Sims Bayou through the City of Houston to increase capacity in the channel. In order for the channel to be widened, numerous utilities had to be relocated.
RPS designed a new wastewater 32 MGD lift station to replace the existing WCID No. 51 lift station. The new lift station has six equally sized 300 hp submersible pumps, a chemical odor control system, electrical and instrumentation systems and associated site work. The project also included the replacement and relocation of three crossings of Sims Bayou with one deep crossing and construction of 6,000 feet of new trunk sewer lines.
